Instead of heading for a duathlon at Glentress like last year, I headed to ride the red route instead. Pyro, his Dad and I made it round happily but Pyro and were completely knackered by the time we got back to the cars.

My legs still haven’t recovered properly so I’ve decided to skip tai-chi this evening. Much as it pains me to do so since I’m enjoying it so much, I just can’t imagine I’d be able to get much done. Instead, a quiet evening in which will probably be the only one this week.

I intended to go out for a run this evening but having fallen asleep on the train home and then almost tripping over my own feet coming up the stairs to the back door I figured that would likely end in my running into something. Instead I’ve done my press-ups and practised some tai-chi.

My knees are feeling it a bit with the tai-chi which I’m currently putting down to using new muscles and a bit of badly placed footwork. I’ll need to get it sorted quickly though as putting my joints under regular stress isn’t exactly the end game. I’m still suffering from goldfish syndrome when it comes to practising the form, but I can make it quite happily to first buddha without reference though the journey to second is still less than smooth. My arms are fair aching after last night’s training session, I presume due to the pushing/balance exercises. Kinda suggests I wasn’t using my legs for the pushing in that case.

The walk back up the hill from Stockbridge to Princes Street was slightly wobbly. However, I felt that the rest of me had coped well with it despite the pain caused by various crane positions.

However, having just tried to do last night’s round of press-ups I can safely say that my arms a still more than a little tired. Not particularly looking forward to the idea of another 40 to get my up to date. Perhaps two lots of twenty will be the way to go.
