Press A oh crap back to the start
QTE, something I’m starting to dread.
I’m a little slow to the game but I’ve been playing Tomb Raider : Legend for a few hours now and it’s a lot of fun. The exploration angle is still there, the voice talent is good and the infuriating changes of direction just when you think you’ve got the jump lined up are present.
What’s also there are those annoying Quick Time Events where you sit back thinking you’ve got a cut scene to watch and suddenly you’ve got a milli-bawhair of time to hit A before Lara plunges to her death. Wouldn’t be so bad if there was an indication of when you’re about to get an interactive versus a non-interactive scene but there’s none.
Also, what idiot decided to place them just after loading screens and not cache the data? That’s right, you smack the wrong button in vain (because no other console maker did the sensible thing like Nintendo and make them easy to remember shapes), watch Lara die and then have to wait while the level loads again to get another shot. A far better design would be to drop you back instantly to the start of the scene possibly with some backwards swooshing like Sands of Time.
Apparently there are going to be QTEs in TR : Underworld as well. Fair enough, they’re a part of games now, but please put a bit more though into them.

Stop fannying about and get some work done! Oh yeah, and this is a test.
