New bike!

Got to the cooperative at just two minutes past ten and it was already mobbed. I stuck myself at the back of a queue and waited, hoping that I’d be able to cycle away on a new bike today. My hope took a bit of a knocking as I watched two of the display bikes get SOLD notices attached to the handlebars.
Luckily, there was a display model left by the time I made it to the till so I hastily shoved the Egg card into the reader to claim it. Since I was getting the bike for so much off I decided to grab a few extras while I was there1. Decent Cat’s Eye LED for the front and back, a combo lock so I don’t need to lug the u-lock around anymore, an odometer and Zinn and the Art of Mountain Bike Maintenance. Definitely a good haul.
I was sorely tempted to get off the train a few stops early and cycle it at least part of the way home, but thought that conserving my legs was probably best. If I cycled back from Inverkeithing I’d probably end up taking a scenic route and before I knew it, I’d be beginning to feel it in the legs. Not a good plan for a pre half marathon ritual.
1 Yeah, I know it doesn’t make any sense, why not just take the money and run?
